MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC

You will serve as a Marine Machinery Mechanic in the PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. The location for this position is Garden Island, Australia ***See Additional Information section below for details***

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION.

Disassembling and repairing marine equipment and machinery such as main propulsion machinery, auxiliary engines, speed reduction and acceleration mechanisms. Applying various methods, procedures and techniques to layout, install and align marine machinery and equipment; operating machine tools to manufacture component parts or re-machine existing parts. Ability to apply and interpret requirements contained in technical work documents, manuals, blueprints to determine critical dimensions and reference points.

Producing necessary templates and other fixtures required for repair or installation utilizing knowledge of materials. Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
