LEAD MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

About the Position: This position serves as a Lead Medical Technician located in the United States Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM), Dallas, TX.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Measuring vital signs of applicants/patients (i.e., taking blood pressure, pulse, respiration readings); 2) Collecting specimens (i.e., blood, urine, tissue) from lab or directly from patient; 3) Documenting patients' medical information into a computer system; 4) Performing laboratory tests and examinations (i.e., chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking); AND Analyzing results of medical tests.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Medical Technology/Technician, Medical Assistant, Nursing, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, or a related field of study.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). On 4 October 2026, the US Military Processing Command (USMEPCOM) will officially align under the Department of War, transitioning from Department of the Army's oversight. Under this realignment, all current and future USMEPCOM personnel will transition into the Department of War (DoW) workforce.

This structural realignment is a strategic update to ensure the USMEPCOM's joint-service processing mission is directly integrated with the highest levels of national defense readiness under the Department of War (DoW).
