Basic Requirements: Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge.
The applicant's background must also include one of the following: A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hour Applicants MUST fully demonstrate all the following for the grade(s) level to be considered.
To qualify for the GS-11 level, you must possess at least education and/or combination of education and one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level, that includes: Conduct thorough research in preparation for planning, coordinating, and conducting comprehensive audits or evaluations; Assists in developing audit or evaluation programs; Prepares and maintains work papers to support work and analysis; Assists in preparing reports, interview summaries, or briefing materials that cover review findings.
To qualify for the GS-12 level, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, performing all of the following: Prepare reports, interview summaries, or briefing materials that cover review findings Researching laws, regulations, contracts, and management controls to develop performance audits or evaluation objectives, scope and methodology; Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing audit or evaluation data to support conclusions; Participates during entrance and exit conference briefings to present audit or evaluation objectives and potential findings to auditees To qualify for the GS-13 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, performing all of the following: Developing comprehensive program or operation review plans to include establishing scope, methodology, and objectives; Advising others in conducting audits, evaluations or review assignments; Writing, editing, and reviewing products covering work performed and conclusions reached; Orally presenting work performed and conclusions reached to inform decision makers
