About this opportunity

The Apprentice Communications and Events Administrator will primarily support the work of the Communications and Events Team in the Department of Engineering Science. The team is responsible for the department website and staff intranet, organising staff, researcher, alumni and academic events and conferences, social media, and internal communications and engagement.

Responsibilities: The apprentice will assist the team with a wide variety of tasks across internal and external communications, which will provide excellent training for a wide variety of communications related roles across the University and more widely.

With guidance from the Internal Communications Manager, you will: · Learn to make simple updates to the Department Website and SharePoint Intranet, and produce reports on Intranet usage · Develop the skills to manage the Department’s photo library and media on the website to ensure that images are tagged and stored appropriately, including GDPR consents · Organise and manage staff photo sessions · Learn to create profiles on the main website for researchers and DPhil students · Assist in the organisation of staff events such as coffee mornings · Monitor supplies of branded materials and stationery, and make orders when needed · Manage photography and event equipment and keep it secure and ready for use.

Keep records of any equipment loans and ensure it is returned · Maintain staff mailing lists and manage communications inboxes, referring queries to colleagues where necessary · Learn to create small surveys and feedback forms, extracting and presenting data · Learn to gather content for and create staff newsletters such as the fortnightly Bulletin · Help Events Managers to prepare for events including academic conferences, by creating registration lists and badges, and helping with registration where needed Support team members with communications-related projects.

You will primarily support the work of the Communications and Events Team in the Department of Engineering Science. We are responsible for the department website and staff intranet, organising a wide range of events and conferences, social media, and internal communications and engagement. Applicants must be 18yrs+ due to event requirements.

Duration: 15-months practical training period, plus 3 months for End Point Assessment Delivery model: Work-based training with your employer 10 days Business Professionals training at college Approximately 12 on-site assessment visits per year Off the job training will count for at least 6 hours per week of an apprentice’s time at work Qualifications included: Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard End Point Assessment: Knowledge test Portfolio based interview Project/improvement presentation

College training will be at Abingdon & Witney College's Abingdon Campus and also on site in the workplace
